Pande Game Reserve

The Pande Game Reserve is the smallest Game Reserve in Tanzania, covering an area of 15.39 square kilometers in Kinondoni and Ubungo Districts in Dar es Salaam City. It is situated approximately 45 km Northwest from the city center and 16 km from the Indian Ocean at an altitude ranging from 80m to 186m above sea level. The reserve is surrounded by five villages: Msumi, Msakuzi, Mabwe Pande, Mpiji Magoe, and Mbopo.

The reserve boasts a rich diversity of wildlife, including small mammals such as Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkey, Galagos, Hares, Rodents, Slender Mongoose, African Civet, bush pig, bushbuck, forest duikers, Suni, and dikdiks. Amphibians and reptiles are also prominent in the area.

Pande hosts a significant bird population with species endemic to the East African Coastal Forest making up 20% of bird species present. Birdwatchers can spot various species such as African broadbill, Rattling cisticola, Falcons, Garden warbler, Doves, Sunbirds, Guineafowls among others.

Tourism activities at Pande Game Reserve include game viewing, nature walking safaris, bird watching, camping, nature trail cycling, and picnicking. The reserve offers visitors serene locations for meditation amidst nature’s beauty.
